Role Description
As a Product Manager focused on Dropbox’s cloud operating system, you will play a crucial role in improving how teams across Dropbox leverage our world-class infrastructure to scale with confidence. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities and driving key initiatives that accelerate product velocity and enable Dropbox to meet the growing demands from new and existing markets. You will have significant strategic impact and influence on the direction of the company and will be uniquely positioned and empowered to make an impact on the value tens of millions of users get from Dropbox daily.
Responsibilities
- Define the vision and strategy and drive the roadmap to improve end user experiences and delight, including performance and reliability, while also driving developer experience and velocity.
- Own Cloud OS development and experiments end-to-end. We follow a hypothesis-driven development approach where you’ll write product specs, drive cross-functional execution and work with Engineering, Design and Analytics to balance tradeoffs, driving to outcomes.
- Know your customer. You’ll work with a tight-knit team of research, design, content design and customer experience to ensure that you know the ins and outs of our users and are consistently delivering value for them on one of the most critical jobs that users come to Dropbox for.
- Be an expert at prioritization — a deep partnership with engineering is key to ensure that we are appropriately balancing foundational efforts with new capabilities that reduce complexity and advance short term and long term goals.
- Make data-informed product decisions with qualitative and quantitative research. Obsess over outcomes and know where best to invest the team’s valuable time. Share insights and results throughout the company to evangelize the high-impact work of the area.
- Drive to results. Your expertise in navigating, unblocking and persisting through challenges that arise during execution will be important as you deliver on your roadmap: making trade-offs, anticipating staffing needs, risks, and ensuring frequent and clear communication to all of your internal and external stakeholders.
- Work on Dropbox’s multi-platform vision to ensure that all teams can successfully utilize a common infrastructure.
Requirements
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Business, Applied Math or Statistics, or relevant experience.
- 4+ years of PM experience working on platform/foundational products.
- Impact driven and a consistent history of delivering measurable results for both users and the business.
- Strong technical abilities and a track record of working through complex technical problems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and execution skills that solve technical and operational problems for our users to enable foundation innovation.
- Proven ability to collaborate with engineering teams and cross-functional partners in a highly collaborative environment.
- Ability to analyze and use quantitative and qualitative data to inform decisions.
- Deeply empathize with customers and understand both internal and external customer needs.
- Be effective and communicate clearly and concisely with engineering and product leadership, and influence our technical strategy.
- Ability to sell and influence without authority, and deal with ambiguity.
- Build consensus and listen well, but can also drive hard decisions.
